The warm soothing weather makes you want to roll out your tresses and enjoy the heat with open hair. However, as we move to winter times, the locks start to fade out with the season and it is important to preserve its beauty and strength during this fragile period. Winter comes with its own set of hair care rules. To maintain healthy hair during winter times, you can follow these simple tricks to freedom:
1. Look out for signs of Breakage:
If you are able to notice breakage at only one or two specific areas of the hair, mostly your hair breakage has something to do with the head gear you are choosing to wear. Wool hats and scarves top this list and they are likely to pull out and break the hair near the neck area. You can deal with the wool caps by a sewing a silk or satin line within it. If you are not good at this, take the help of your dear ones. While using wool scarf, try to keep your hair away. Be it the latest style or proper securing – make sure that your hair is safe in all cases.
2. Conditioning your hair:
Dryness of hair is another big reason for it to get damaged. This is more often due to the heated places in the house and office. You can use good humectants products regularly and top it up with a good deep conditioner every now and then.
3. Stop washing:
Leaving your house on a frosty morning with wet hair might actually damage your hair to a great extent. Remember that your hair requires different type of care during different seasons. So unlike your wash and go easy style like in the summer and spring seasons, in winter you need to reduce your shampooing and wetting your hair habits. If you are not swimming, there is absolutely no need to wash and shampoo your hair on a daily basis.
4. Avoid use of heat:
Most of the moisture in your hair is sucked off by indoor heat and then using those hot blowers, flat irons and curling things to heat it up further only means destruction of your silky strands. If you love to use setting techniques, you can do all that in the winter times and set the floor on fire with styles like pin curls and wraps, or even that wet set – each of which does not need you to heat up your hair.
5. Use an improvised protective styling:
Winter is a time when you need to take that extra care of your hair and using that protective styling to keep the hair ends up would be a great way to deal with it. French rolls, twists, Braids, Topknots, and buns are some great ways to keep your hair from getting damaged from the snow, hail or heat outside.
