Tips for Combination Hair

People around us have different types of hair; some have fine types while some others have thick types. Straight falling ones and curly ones are not uncommon and all these are natural. By its very origin, some hair types are naturally dry. But some others are oily, and because of this very factor, they are prone to the accumulation of sebum. So a person needs to protect his hair based on the type of his hair.

People may have some idea on how to deal with different types of hair, but what about a combination type of hair? Some people have dry hair at the end and oily at the scalp. You will be in all sorts of trouble if you have such a hair.

Combination Hair Care

However, there are many ways to deal with such type of hair. Rather than blindly purchasing products, go through the following tips that will help you considerably to maintain a good combination type of hair.

Proper washing:

Like in every case, everything starts with the proper washing of the hair and you need to caution against hot water because hair strands are susceptible against hot water and extreme heat and the use of it will damage the hair. If you want to use hot water, use only lukewarm water.

Proper shampooing:

Since you have a special condition, you need to be very choosy while selecting a shampoo. You should avoid using shampoos for oily hair and instead purchase one for normal hair. You may apply the shampoo directly to your scalp and allow the suds flow to the ends of your hair. Do not take a big quantity and just a dollop the size of a quarter will be enough. Keep it in your mind that you should not apply it at the tip of the hair as it will damage your hair. Thereafter, rinse off the shampoo very carefully until it is not slippery.

Proper conditioning:

You may use a rinse off conditioner after you washed your hair. Unlike the way in which we applied the shampoo in the hair, never use the conditioner directly to the scalp. The reason is that if we apply the conditioner directly to the scalp, then the moisturizing agents in it will result in the production of more oil. So when you apply a conditioner, concentrate on applying it to the tips of your hair strands. After that, you may rinse your hair thoroughly with cold water to discourage the hair from secreting too much oil and to lock in the moisture.

You may do the deep conditioning treatment once in a week to get added TLC for combination type of hair. The dry parts of the hair needs to be applied with moisturizing conditioner and after that wrap it with a towel. You should let it remain there for a couple of hours before washing it off completely. You can use olive oil as an alternative for commercial conditioners. To get rid of the brittle ends of your hair, make it a habit to cut your hair at least once in two months.
