Taking Care of Your Asian Hair

Among all ethnicities, Asians have the straightest and most manageable hair type. There are so many hairstyles that look good with Asian hair, may it be long hair styles, or short hairstyles. But because of too much heat exposure from hair styling devices, hair becomes dull, dry and damaged. There are a lot of ways to bring back life into your Asian Hair. Here are a few tips on how to take care of your hair without spending too much.

If you ask any hair expert about hair care, the first thing that they would always advice is to find a shampoo and conditioner that works best with your hair type and hair problem. The shampoo and conditioner you should choose does not have to be expensive. To prevent hair damage, opt for mild shampoos that can be used every day. For overly damaged hair, you need deep conditioning at least once a week.

When shampooing, massage the scalp gently and apply the shampoo evenly throughout the entire hair. You have to rinse the shampoo thoroughly to avoid leaving any residue behind. When conditioning your hair, you shouldn’t include your scalp because your scalp already contains natural oils, if you condition it as well, it will make your hair too oily.

Never ever brush your hair when it is still wet. You can either run your fingers through your hair or use a wide toothed comb. Brushing your hair while it’s still wet may cause over stretching or pulling of hair and result to hair breakage and split ends.

If possible do not blow dry your hair. Allow it to dry naturally. This will allow your hair cells to regenerate and let your hair to relax and have a vacation from heat coming from too much use of hairdryers and other styling tools. If you have to blow dry, apply hair products to hair that have added moisturizers in it. This will help retain moisture to your hair and thus prevents further damage.

Choose a high quality natural boar and nylon bristle brush. The nylon bristles are safe to use on hair since it won’t break or stretch the hair while the boar bristles help redistribute the natural sebum found in the scalp which results to more healthier and shinier hair. A good quality hair brush is a good investment. Think of how much you will get to save when you decide on buying one expensive hair boar bristle brush that gives you healthy beautiful hair, and think of how much you could be paying to go to a hair salon to repair severely damaged hair from choosing a low quality plastic hair brush.

Being Asian, you are blessed with having a hair type that has other people from different ethnicities drooling over. Be proud of the hair you have and remember to take care of it.
