Taking Care of Your Curly Hair

Curly hair requires more care than long hair. It is because curly hair tends to be brittle and is more prone to frizzing. Important tips are given below on how to take good care of curly hair.

1. Maximum frequency for shampooing curly hair must be twice a week because shampoo removes the natural oil in the hair. After every time you use a shampoo use a conditioner also. That helps moisturize your hair again. Use a leave-in in conditioner every day or on alternate days. The shampoo and conditioner used must be made especially for curly hair.

2. Use only wide toothed combs and brushes on your hair. Narrow toothed combs and brushes tend to cause breakage and frizzing.

3. Detangling of the hair must be done when it is moist and conditioned to protect the hair from breakage. It is best done when you are under the shower. Detangling must be done with your fingers first. Then use a wide toothed comb to finish it. Start the detangling at the end of the hair first and go up in small sections until you reach the root of the hair. After detangling rinse your head in the shower. Half of the conditioner must be retained in the hair.

4. To dry your hair after a wash, do not rub with the towel. If you want quick drying after a wash, blot your hair with a towel. Rubbing causes frizzing. Avoid brushing also. It is best to let your hair aid to dry the hair to save the hair from breaking.

5. Condition your hair deeply at least once in a month to keep your scalp and hair moisturized all the time. You may use a minimum quantity of styling products, but they must contain moisturizing ingredients. Style your hair gently with your fingers.
